About Olive

Olive Larson is a family law practitioner located in Danvers, Massachusetts, who is known for her ability to settle difficult cases with compassion and dignity. She is an experienced litigator and mediator, who offers a sympathetic and understanding ear, while providing high quality legal advice and services to her clients. Olive's goal is to settle cases as amicably and expeditiously as possible, while protecting her clients' rights and ensuring that the resolution is fair and equitable. While settlement is almost always best for the parties and any children that may be involved, it is not always the correct approach. In those cases, Olive will vigorously represent her client at trial while, at the same time, always leaving the door open for a negotiated solution.

Anything involving a person's family life and the legal system is intimidating and daunting. Olive believes that the more understanding you have of "what's coming next" or "what do I do now", the easier it is to move through the process and proceed to the next step. Olive will schedule an initial consultation with the client and collaborate with him or her to structure an approach to the individual circumstances of each case. Olive will work with the client to understand the facts and circumstances that are unique to this situation and will explain how the law generally applies to that individual's concerns. Olive will also help the client explore options for the future and thoughtfully consider the possible ramifications of the various choices made now.

Although Olive cannot change a difficult partner into something else, she will be there with her client every step of the way to make the process as comfortable as possible, while vigorously fighting for the client's rights.

Olive handles a myriad of family law cases in Court and as a mediator, including adoptions, contested and uncontested divorces, paternity, post judgment modifications, enforcement actions (contempts), and pre and post nuptial agreements. These matters may involve issues of alimony, child support, child custody and time-sharing, property division, taxes, and gifted or inherited property. Olive is well versed in all these issues and has represented clients in highly complex and very simple situations.

Olive received an AB degree (cum laude) from Boston College in 1976. She received a Masters in Taxation from Bentley College in 1982. And Olive received a JD (cum laude) from Suffolk University Law School in 1988.

Olive practices in Essex, Middlesex, and Norfolk Counties. She is a member of the Greater Newburyport Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Olive has served as a mentor for the Women's Bar Association's Family Law Project and is a trained Domestic Violence Advocate. Olive was formerly an associate at Friedman & Atherton and a partner at Boston Law Collaborative. She has been in private practice in Danvers since 2010.
